Front Spoiler Info (Vestatec, Seat Toledo, etc)

I figured I would begin a new topic instead of adding to the other tread specifically about the Vestatec front lip.

I'm aware that the Seat Toledo TDI front lip can be easily modified to fit the front bumper of the Eclipse N/T. From what I understand, the Seat Toledo TDI and US VW Gulf 3 share the same platform, just different versions for US and Europe. The car's are not similar in appearance, but I found the following link.

    Go to http://www.tmtuning.com/vw/

Click on Exterior, then click Gulf 3. After clicking the Gulf 3 icon on the left, look at the bottom row of page 1. It offers the OEM Seat Toledo front lip as a direct fit option for the Gulf. So theoretically any of the aftermarket lips made for the Gulf 3 can then be easily modified for use with the 1G.

How much modification is considered "minor" to fit the Seat Lip on a 1g? Removing the upper tabs? Lengthening the lip?

Has anyone used a different lip other than the Vestetec or Seat Toledo?

dude, the Lip is made of rubber and its split in the middle (parts overlap on the BACKSIDE) so you can pull them an inch apart.. looks clean, and the Lip is cheap (45 euros or something so with shipping and all..90 bucks is an ok price)

Mounting? easy, go to the hardwarestore (where else..dsmers love hardwarestores) and get ordinary screws ( dry wall screws) , and recarge your cordless drill, jack up car, remove front bumber, (can be done without removing but if u mess up..) and go to town!

Thanks for the response. Is that the only modification to make the lip fit? Just separate the lip in center to "add" the extra width needed to fit the bumper. I was having difficulty noticing the "gap" in the center of the lip, and couldn't understand where the modification was coming in.

On a side note, shouldn't each of the other lips produced for that vehicle be good alternatives? I'm assuming if you were looking for a different lip, you could purchase one of the other one's for that vehicle then do a little fiberglassing to make a smooth finish. I wasn't sure if anyone ever attempted to mount a different lip.

I used about 20 screws to get that thing connected with the car... but you need alot less, I just want to be sure that my foglights are mounted good

Unfortunately, I don't have the lip yet. At first I was set on getting a Vestatec lip, but due to the availability and price of it, I'm looking for other possibilities. I remember seeing your picture on the Home Page here. You have a very nice looking car. I like the addition of the fog lights in the outer vent opening too.

There is always topics floating around on DSMTalk, and DSMTuners in regards to a 1g lip, but nobody ever responds with definitive answers or pics. After spending a few days here, searching through the pictures, I find it fairly common for aftermarket lips over there. Since the Seat Toledo fits very nicely, I'm wondering about other lips from that car, such as the ones below:

I have not seen that particular lip yet. It was also not listed in the website that I found the other lips. I'll have to search around on the VW Golf III websites to see if I can figure out what one that is.

Don't worry about your english translation, since I am the guest (U.S.) here, I should be the one trying to translate my posts. I wouldn't even know where to begin though, so thank you for assisting me. If I tried to translate my posts, it would probably make no sense at all, at least I can understand your translation.

well , since the seat Lip is soo cheap, get it, and if you get bored, you can always bust out the Fiberglass resin... but try it first, i think it looks classy.

WHAT IF: you go to a junkyard and snag the lip of a MK3 GTI and do some fiberglassing.. ?

ps: i could see that levanto lip (last pic) working and looking drop dead gorgeous on a 1g..

Unfortunately, the Seat Lip is unavailable here in the US, and the MK3 GTI stock lip looks stupid. It's basically a straight piece of ABS plastic with out any grooves or anything. I don't think it will look that good on a 1G, but I think that Levanto lip would look pretty good too.

I'm going to have my car painted and want to do some tasteful exterior mods first. I just want the car to stand out a little bit, but not attract unwanted attention like a body kit would. I'm going to eventually try out a lip, but I may just get the seat lip, so I don't waste my money on something that won't fit properly. We'll see.

jeah that´s my way... not so much like a body kit as well as the car in stock looks really fat

but all the mods i made are a kind of not really outstanding.. seats leather sound... and the lip is the part which nobody who doesn´t know the car would really mention, because it perfectly fits to the form...

so i wish you good luck in finding your own resolution
